What is Safe Diver Training? For many aspects of scuba diving there are specific requirements for a safety diver or support diver.
For example when divers are in-training an Instructor will often use a Dive Leader or Dive Com / Dive Master as an assistant to supervise divers while the Instructor teach or trains skills one on one with each student in a course.
Typically Entry level or Open Water Diver training. There are also many professional uses for a safety diver like when divers maybe at risk from marine life (Sharks etc.)
In support of photographers or video makers (making underwater movies for example.
About ITDA Safety Diver
ITDA offers a unique range of safety diver
training and certification and we can even customize
program to meet specific needs for diving projects and
working divers.
This level maybe considered in most agencies as a leadership level because of the (Theory) knowledge and training required.
For example some core skills that are required for certification in the ITDA system include:
- Diver Supervision on projects
- Handling Specialist Equipment (Like bang sticks / Shark shock tools)
- Active and Passive monitoring of dive activities
- Assisting Specialists (working divers)
- Diving First Aid Certified
- Deep Rescue - Cave Rescue - Wreck Rescue - Recovery Diver (Body / Vehicles etc.)
- Public Safety Diving - Fire Services - Police and Emergency Services (Military may also be included)
- Support Diver for underwater film or television crews
ITDA
can also create / develop a curriculum for unique
specific risk jobs that require specialist skills, not
normally covered by scuba diver or technical diver
training.
